The techniques used to check people and packages during security checks are completely different
When we travel by subway, train, plane and other modes of transportation, or enter and exit crowded public places such as libraries and museums, we often need to pass safety checks. Common security inspection equipment, such as security gates, handheld security devices, and luggage bag security inspection equipment, should be familiar to everyone. But is its security clear to everyone? Now let's unveil the mysterious veil of security inspection equipment for everyone!
safety-check
Security gates, also known as metal detection gates, are detection devices that detect whether personnel are carrying metal items. They are mainly used in airports, stations, and some public places with high pedestrian traffic.
When some criminals carry prohibited items such as controlled knives and firearms, the security checkpoint is an effective defense line to protect public safety.
The security checkpoint uses weak magnetic field induction technology with very low power, and the electromagnetic radiation generated is safe.
Handheld security scanner
Handheld security detector, also known as handheld metal detector, commonly known as security rod. Generally used in conjunction with metal detection doors, when a "security checkpoint" alarm detects a metal item, a handheld metal detector can be used to locate the exact location of the hidden metal item.
The working principle of the handheld security check device is that there is a magnetic field formed by a copper coil inside. When it approaches a metal object, its magnetic field will be changed to generate an alarm, and the generated trace electromagnetic radiation is also safe for the human body.
Both of the above devices use electromagnetic radiation!
There are also many devices that generate electromagnetic radiation in our daily lives, such as computers, mobile phones, microwave ovens, induction cookers, and so on. The electromagnetic radiation generated by security gates and handheld security devices during the inspection process is low in energy and does not pose a threat to human health.
Luggage security inspection equipment
The luggage inspection equipment, also known as the X-ray luggage inspection system, works differently from the two aforementioned devices. It is an electronic device that uses ionizing radiation to transport luggage through an X-ray inspection channel via a conveyor belt to complete security checks.
According to the national standard GBZ 127-2002 "Hygienic Protection Standards for X-ray Luggage Inspection Systems", the radiation protection technical requirements for X-ray luggage inspection systems are: when the system generates radiation, the specific energy release rate of air at any point 5 centimeters away from its outer surface shall not exceed 5 micrograys/hour.
The air release energy rate at the entrance and exit of luggage bags is generally the highest. However, under normal and compliant operation of the equipment, the air release energy rate on the outer surface of the luggage inspection device is lower than the required limit of radiation health protection standards. Therefore, the impact of X-ray luggage inspection systems on the health and safety of radiation workers and the public can be ignored.
But it should be noted that:
When placing and retrieving luggage, strictly follow the requirements to place the luggage from the starting point of the conveyor belt and collect it at the end of the conveyor belt at the exit. Try to avoid standing next to the luggage inspection system and do not stay for a long time to shorten the contact time.
When the lead rubber curtain is in the open state, one should avoid reaching into the inspection compartment to retrieve luggage, and also avoid intentionally reaching into or lifting the lead rubber curtain to reduce the harm of radiation to the body.
